One of the most consistent methods of how to get website traffic is through writing unique articles which will contain a resource box and then have them submitted to the article directories. Whilst the article contains the helpful information for the reader, if the resource box is not well written or formatted, your efforts to get targeted traffic will be in vain.

So what is an article resource box? It is the text accompanying an article that informs the reader a little about yourself and how, if by visiting the link to your website, they will be able to gather a whole lot more specific information to that already given in the article. Regard the article as the act of giving some helpful information and in return, you are using the resource box to take the reader to your website, where the target will be to get them to leave their email contact details in order for you to make further contact with them.

The trick to creating a successful resource box in terms of the click rate on the link to your website is that you need to achieve a balance between providing information about yourself and an outright sales message. The dilemma of what to write is between being too sales orientated which may come across as another marketer's hard sell, but on the other hand if you center it too much on you and not how you can solve the visitor's problem then there may not be sufficient reason for them to take action. And these are the important factors in creating an article resource box. You are attempting to influence the reader into taking a specfic action which is solely to click the link to be taken to your website.

You should view the resource box as a bridge between the article and your website. And therefore you should only have one path for the reader to follow, one "arrow" for them to find the route. As such, it is therefore important not to have more than one way of taking the prospect, and they should be seen as a prospect because they have taken the time to read your article and have effectively put their hand up and declared their interest in the subject topic. An unforseen problem may occur if you put in more than one option in the resource box of how to bring the prospect to your website or contact you as they may now not take any action at all. The target is to bring the visitor over to your website and get them to leave their contact details in return for receiving your email messages plus it is reassuring for them to see a contact email address to facilite immediate direct contact.

Now have you considered what tone you will set for your message in the resource box? Again, not too pushy, not too sales orientated but a message saying who or what you are, mentioning very briefly the subject of the article, how you can help and how the reader can then gain further information by going to your website to get a free report with further help or perhaps to introduce them to a product that offers a solution to the subject matter of the article.

It is a skill to write a great article resource box that will crack the challenge of how to get website traffic but through practice and testing you will find what styles work and those that are less successful. Take a look at the resource boxes used by other successful marketers and try and style yours similarly. Whilst not copying them, it is always clever to follow the plan used by others who do generate targeted traffic to their websites through well written article resource boxes.
